We are thinking about getting a cat run installed for our two cats. Is this a good idea?

Definitely a great idea especially if you think your cat/s could use the extra stimulation....

There also some fantastic cat house enclosure and pen systems that are a wonderful options and there are some examples of these at the bottom of this page...

No matter what system you choose you must keep in mind that they will be a little more likely to get fleas and ticks so keep a close eye on that. I had two of the girls out in the cat run yesterday and found a tick on one of them today. You will need to check your cat/s for these nasties especially in warm and often unusual spots including gums, arm pits, groin and ears. If you do find a tick take care when removing it that you remove the "WHOLE" tick including the head. If you are concerned seek professional advice. IMPORTANT: If you find that your cats back legs are not working properly your cat may have a paralysis tick - Seek immediate vet attention.

You may also find that once the cat has experienced the cat run they will feel a little more confident with the great outdoors and may make a run for the door when you open it.

We sell a huge range of cat hammocks that are awesome in the enclosures and in out door areas and your cats will just love them.  The hammocks come in a variety of shapes to suit just about any cat run or enclosure: Check out: http://www.burmeseaustralia.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=62&Itemid=87

Below are some examples (pulled from a variety of different places/websites) of various enclosures that I found on the web  - This  will give you an idea of what is possible. Some of them are very extravagant and you certainly don't need to go to those lengths but it may give you a starting point to work from and help you to get the creative juices flowing...

We have some fantastic contacts for cat runs and enclosures so if you would like further details please email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

One of our contacts made this enclosure for one of our customers that owns two Suchi Burmese.

We also found a couple of great links on the Cat Protection Society's website that may give you some useful information.
